The objective of aesthetic medicine is to prevent illness, improve health and to treat the complaints of the patients as fully as possible to the maximum benefit in the quality of patient’s life. The doctor will not discriminate his or her patients for reasons of religion, political ideology, race, sex or social background.
The doctor will establish a relationship of mutual confidence which will be respected loyally.
Detailed information specifying the opportunities and limitations of the treatment will be offered to the patient.
All medical information that a patient has trusted to the doctor in the course of the treatment will be kept as a professional secret. This also applies to all the personnel that work alongside the doctors.
The doctor must have all the necessary equipment at his or her disposal to protect and maintain the patient’s health as well as to promote a quick recovery. All criteria of hygiene will be respected. Likewise, the doctor will not perform procedure for which he or she is not adequately prepared, nor will he or she give any advice or guidance based on criteria different to those of good health and medical efficiency.
The doctors will respect and promote professional comradeship. They will not interfere in treatments not under their supervision. However, should a doctor solicit professional advice, all the necessary information will be offered.
The official press office will be used for communication to guarantee a correct and fluent interchange of information. Communications with an offensive or disrespectful tone should be avoided and neither will purely lucrative messages be published. False expectations or unreal needs must not be conveyed.
The doctors will only offer the treatments necessary to solve the problems of the patient. The fees will be fixed, proportionate and fair.
The members will respect the Statutes of the SEME and offer their maximum collaboration.
The SEME will oversee the implementation of the ethical code. The membership data will be protected and the SEME will strictly limit the use of the available resources to the sole benefit of the society and its members.
